Instructions for using KML file
KML (Keyhole Markup Language) is a file that is used for displaying locations of petrol stations in programs for geo-location: Google Earth and Google Maps.
Google Earth
To use file at Google Earth, you should first download the program Google Earth for the operational system that you have installed on your computer. Install the application. After installation, start Google Earth and enter KML file in the following way:
- Click on the option File, and then Open.
- Dialogue box for finding the file in your computer will appear.
- Select the taken KML file and click Open.
- When the file is downloaded, Google Earth will show the downloaded locations of petrol stations.
Google Maps
KML file may be used also on Google Maps. It is necessary to log in to your Google account and to open the link. Select the red button – Create new map. In the option list, select and click on Import. Dialogue box will appear where it is necessary to select the taken file and click: Upload from File. Enter the title of the map and in this way you created in your account the map with downloaded location/s, which is visible only to you.
Instructions for Android phones
Install the map of petrol stations on your phone. Open Google Play, find and install the application KMLZ to Earth. Open the map of petrol stations on your phone. Download KML file from the site. The file will be saved in Download folder on the card or in the telephone. Open the application KMLZ to Earth, find the downloaded KML file and open it. Google Earth will open and location of petrol stations will be visible.
Instructions for IPad
IOS support Google Earth as well, and you can open KML file on this device too. Due to specificity of IOS, it is not possible to download the KML file, it is rather necessary to create map on your Google account first. Creation of map and import of petrol station locations is described above in the section Google Maps. Once you finish with Google map, initiate on your device the Google Earth application and log in to your Google account. After that, click on My Maps and select one of created locations. After selection of the locations, Google Earth will display them on the map.
Instructions for using GPX file
GPX (GPS eXchange Format) is a file that is used for displaying locations of petrol stations in Google Earth program, and it may be also used with Garmin navigation devices. Depending on the model of device, transferring may be done in one of the following ways:
- Through system file. PC recognizes the device as a flash memory (USB Mass Storage) and it is necessary to store GPX file in the appropriate folder (most often the GPX folder).
- Using BaseCamp program that may be downloaded from linka. Upon installation, it is necessary to connect the device with PC and start the program. After that, follow the steps bellow:
- Click on File
- Select Import to my collection. Dialogue box will open through which you select the taken GPX file. Click on Open.
- File will be opened in program, in My locations folder. To transfer the imported location to your device, select the Device option, then Send to device, and after that, Send “My collection” to device. Dialogue will appear and you have to select your device and click on OK button. Wait for the transfer to complete, after which locations will be stored in the Favorites group on Garmin device.
